Once again it’s two o’clock and I’ve realized that I haven’t had lunch yet! I’ve been bustling around getting things done all day and, although I’ve made sure Caleb’s eaten, my stomach is empty and rumbling. Unfortunately I have to admit that this type of day happens all too often and all too often I end up munching on some chips, goldfish, or animal crackers instead of eating a real, healthy meal. I’ve decided this absolutely needs to change!
I’ve thought of a few different ways to help myself out in this department and, of course, I’ll share those tips with you!
My least favorite thing about salads is chopping them and grilling up the chicken to go on top. I’ve found that if I prepare a whole few salads in one day I’m much more likely to reach for one that I would be if I had to prepare it right before I wanted to eat it.
I am a HUGE fan of leftovers! I purposefully make more dinner than my family needs so we can have leftovers for lunch! Since I try my hardest to make healthy dinners the leftovers tend to be healthy too. That’s usually the way things work… I dish them into single serving tupperware so Nate can take one to work and I can pop one into the microwave!
Cut Up Some Fruits and Vegetables
When you go grocery shopping make sure to purchase some fruits and vegetables that can last a while in the fridge. Spend an hour one day cutting them up and storing them away. When you’re in a munching mood instead of reaching for chips reach for carrot sticks or apple slices. They’re ready to go and you don’t have to put work into getting them prepared to eat!
It’s so easy to grab a healthy freezer meal out, throw it in the microwave, and have a full meal ready in minutes. I’ve recently been enjoying Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers
! I love that they’re REAL ingredients, not processed yuckiness. I think the best part about the Cafe Steamers is that the food is not mixed in with the sauce before being frozen. This is key to making the meal taste really, really fresh! I also learned that Healthy Choice
is the only major brand in the frozen meals section that can call 100% of its products “healthy” as approved by the FDA. Makes me feel good about putting the food into my body!
What do you do for a quick and healthy lunch?
