A wonderful Valentine's Day toddler craft - clothespin painting!

Love month!  Love month!  Love month!  Time to do a little clothespin painting with my boy!

If you weren’t aware, I LOVE love and adore holidays!  I want Caleb to love celebrating holidays as much as I do so (obviously) I have to join him in doing something we both already love – crafts!  It’s adorable to see his face light up when I ask him if he wants to do a project with me.  He couldn’t enjoy it more!

We love painting but the only painting I’ve introduced to Caleb has been using a paintbrush.  I figure it’s time to branch out and let him try different techniques – hence the clothespin and cotton ball.

Now, Caleb is a unique little boy.  He loves order and everything having a place (although he doesn’t always PUT everything in its place) so he enjoys boundaries when it comes to crafting.  I drew him a heart and told him to keep his paint inside the heart.  He did great and was so proud of himself.  After finishing his first painting, he wanted to do it again so I gave him a second canvas and let him do his own thing.  He lasted about 30 seconds before wanting to be done.  No guidelines for where to keep the paint meant no love from Caleb.  What a guy…
