Good Friday services are such bummers. I know, that’s not a great thing to say about a church service that remembers the sacrifice of Christ, but it’s true.
Last night, Nate and I went to the service at our church. Some of the men read the story of the last supper, betrayal, trial, and crucifixion of Christ. They ended with Jesus being taken from the cross and placed in his tomb; then the service was dismissed.
I was left with such a feeling of unease. I wanted to stand up and scream “That’s not the end of the story!” If that’s the end of the story, our whole faith is pointless. We would be worshiping a dead man who accomplished nothing other than leading people from the truth. As Paul says in 1st Corinthians, “If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
Praise the Lord for the day we celebrate tomorrow – Easter. The day our Savior rose from the grave, conquering death, allowing us to be resurrected for all eternity! Our sins are paid for and our Lord is living!
