A Very Special Shower

October 7, 2014

DSC01008DSC01013DSC01016DSC01015DSC01017DSC01022DSC01032DSC01073 This past weekend I had my first baby shower.  I was certainly spoiled!  My mom, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law did such an amazing job planning and throwing the shower for both sides of the family and  I felt absolutely loved with all the people who came to celebrate me and my coming little man.  My shower was a wonderful time to laugh, chat, and reconnect with women I don’t always get to see a lot of and it really did make my heart so happy. Those overalls in the second to last picture were probably the most special gift of the shower.  Nate’s oldest cousin (who’s now 30) was the first to wear them and they’ve been passed down from cousin to cousin through the families as new babies have been born.  Nate’s the first cousin to be having a baby and so the overalls got passed on to us.  I can’t wait until Caleb is old enough to wear them! Notice the Seahawks colors in the banner?  That’s what happens at a baby shower in Seattle.
Does your family have any items of clothing that have been passed on from child to child?

When I saw the overalls it made me smile. I love boys in overalls. But how precious that they are being passed down. And the Seahawks won last night too. Thanks for sharing.

What a precious story with the overalls! That's so neat that his family turned something others just see as hand-me-downs and made a special set of clothes into a tradition! Love it!

It looks like a wonderful shower with lots of love for momma and little Caleb! 🙂

This is so sweet! We don't have any clothing, but a crib that's being passed down in our family. My dad was the first baby, then my sister and I, her daughter, and now little Calvin. And we have a sled that's been passed down, too, my grandfather was the first kid to own it. It's a wonderful, vintage sled, which was so much better then the new sleds the other kids used to have! I hope you had the best time at your shower!

That shower was certainly a gift of love. Such cute attention to detail, and a true blessing to be able to celebrate with both sides of the family:) We have a baptism gown that my sister and I wore, and each of our children got to wear. These kinds of things are very special, aren't they?
