A Letter to My Husband After Four Years
My Darling Nate,
I can’t believe we’ve only been married four years now! More often than not it feels like we’ve just been a part of each other’s lives forever. The past four years have been full of ups and downs (more ups than downs, thankfully) and I’m so grateful that you’re the one I get to go through those ups and downs with.
You’re such a kind, loving, self-sacrificing man and I am constantly honored that you chose me to be the one to spend your life with. I don’t feel like I love you half as well as you love me.
I love that I feel safe with you. I trust you more than I ever imagined I could trust another person and I’m so thankful for that. I know that you’re following after the Lord and that is so reassuring for my heart. I love how well we agree on theology and doctrine and It’s been amazing growing alongside you as we form our beliefs together, prayerfully asking the Lord to guide us.
Thank you for not being threatened by the fact that I’m a strong, independent woman. I love that you celebrate that part of me and don’t try to squash it down. It’s wonderful being married to someone who works that part of me into our relationship instead of trying to push it.
Thank you for being my best friend. I love talking with you, going on adventures with you, and goofing off with you. I love that I can share my heart with you but can also be a complete weirdo with you. I love our inside jokes and our dreams for the future. I’ve never had a friend like you.
I absolutely adore seeing you as a dad. I love the way you love our little man – the way you care for him, goof off with him, and are already teaching him to love Jesus. Partnering with you in this adventure has been amazing. I don’t know how I would get through some of the more difficult times with Caleb if you weren’t there beside me, helping me remember that everything is a season.
I’m excited for what our futures hold. I’m excited to find a full time ministry job where we can serve a congregation as a family. I’m excited to raise Caleb and his future brothers and sisters alongside you. I’m excited to get our little mini farm with our garden, chickens, goats, and whatever else we decide we need and learning with you how to take care of it.
Thank you for being who you are. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for providing for our family so I can stay home with Caleb. Thank you for your diligence and perseverance in life.
You’re the best and I love you forever,
