Westhaven State Park on Mother’s Day

May 9, 2016
Mother's Day was full of exploration, travel, and... tears?!?!? Westhaven State Park didn't hold our kiddo's attention for long. Yes, for the second year in a row we had a boycotting baby! Click through to read more!

Nate and I love to explore and go on adventures!  Instead of presents, we prefer to go out and do things for holidays and special events.  All I wanted for Mother’s Day was to go on a stroller friendly hike with my men.  Nate happily obliged and found a stroller friendly trail at Westhaven State Park on the Washington coast!  (He also built me a porch swing because he’s an overachiever…)

My men and I hopped in the car and drove to the coast…  A win for Nate because he combined my desire to go for a hike with my love of the ocean.  Yeah, he’s a keeper.  Our little man slept the whole way (after waking up at 5am and refusing to take his first nap…) so we were convinced that this Mother’s Day would be different than last year and Caleb would actually cooperate.

Of course we were wrong.  When have we ever been right that Caleb would cooperate?

Westhaven State Park was WINDY and a bit chilly and Caleb threw an all time tizzy fit.  Even though being outside is one of his favorite things he was NOT happy he was on a walk with us.  Unfortunately we had to turn around and head back to the car long before I would have liked…  Another Mother’s Day win for our family…

If you’re ever looking for a stroller friendly walk along the Washington coast I would totally tell you to check out Westhaven State Park!  It’s gorgeous and, although we didn’t get a chance to go down to check it out, the beach looked like it would have been wonderful to have spent some time on too!  I’m certainly planning on going back!  I might leave Caleb at home, though…
