Amazing Edible Green Gak
I adore having fun with my crazy little man and coming up with creative ideas of how to do that is one of my favorite things! To be honest, I feel as though the messier the better when it comes to toddler activities since I firmly believe in letting kids be kids and worrying about how to clean up the mess later.
Do you remember playing with gak in elementary school? I was so fascinated by the stuff! I loved how it turned from a solid into a slime and back into a solid depending on the way it was being held. There was a sort of magic in the crazy, gross pile of goop that I couldn’t get enough of.
The magic I experienced as a child is something I always want to introduce Caleb to so I thought it would be so much fun to figure out how to make gak myself… As long as I could figure out a way to make it chemical free so that it would be edible in case Caleb decided to take a big bite out of it. Most recipes for gak are made with all sorts of harsh chemicals so I was losing hope until I came across a recipe with a strange ingredient – basil seeds. I had no idea what basil seeds even were, let alone where to buy them, but a little research showed me that I could buy them at a Asian food market (which our small town has zero of!) or online.
I was giddy when the basil seeds came in the mail and couldn’t wait to tear open the package and make the slime! Caleb sat there confused at what I was doing in the kitchen and was pumped when I picked up the bowl, opened the door to outside, and let him have at it.
My little stinker is getting kind of ridiculous about my camera these days. He either wants to ham it up or do nothing if I’m trying to snap pictures. Today was a do nothing day. Don’t let the pictures fool you, once the camera went away he dove into the concoction and had a blast! And yes, he did try to eat some. Do I know my little man or what?
If you want to share the magic of gak with your own toddlers I will support that choice wholeheartedly!
Jump on the all® POWERCORE™ Pacs bandwagon with me and head to your nearest Walmart to pick some up! You will NOT regret it! You get such a powerful clean out of these bad boys! If you’re not into the all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI that’s totally ok since there’s also all® POWERCORE™ Pacs Plus Removes Tough Odors which I just might get to clean Nate’s clothes. 😉 I mean he’s a kid at heart so I have to let him be a kid without worrying about his clothes too. He just gets a little stinkier than our toddler.
