Sledding with a Couple of Toddlers

January 6, 2017

The thought of sledding with toddlers can be tough but, when you get out there, it can be so much fun! Encouragement to get out with your toddler and enjoy!

The week after Christmas Nate, Caleb and I headed to Spokane to visit my family.  With eleven brothers and sisters, five nieces and nephews, and four siblings-in-law you better believe trips to visit family are a whole bunch of crazy!  This time around there were only a few of us home (and by a few I mean seven of the siblings and their families…) but we still knew adventures were needed.

Since Nate and I live in western Washington (home of rain, rain, and more rain), we knew sledding had to be on the to-do list while in Spokane.  We bundled Caleb up, picked up our nephew, and grabbed a few sisters, a sister-in-law, and my mom to come along.  The dumb boys (other than Nate, of course) thought playing basketball was more fun than sledding so we disowned them for the day.

Taking toddlers sledding is quite the adventure but these little guys rocked it!  Caleb loves snow and adores adventure so sledding was right up his alley.  By the end of it he was going down (gradually sloped) hills on his own and loving every minute of it.  His cousin, Matthew, wasn’t too keen on the idea of going down hills on his own but adored going on runs with Caleb or his aunt Heleena.

Bundling the boys up helped a ton in keeping them happy and giving them hot cocoa in the car perked them right up once they decided they were too cold!  Family adventures are just too fun and sharing them with some of my siblings makes my heart full!

Your Turn:
What are things you love doing with your family?
Does your toddler love the snow and/or sledding?
