Starting Out the New Year Refreshed
The start of the new year
is always a breath of fresh air and I always want to start new habits and change the way I’ve been doing things. One of the new things I’m working on is eating and drinking much more healthily! For one thing, I’m horrible at drinking water! Seriously, if I could drink coffee all day, every day I totally would! Instead, though, I want to start the new year out refreshed! Being pregnant
has really reminded me of the fact that I need to be making sure I’m keeping my body healthy and having a toddler reminds me that I need to be teaching him good habits – not just by what I say but by what I do.
One way Caleb and I are making sure we’re drinking well is by having smoothie parties in the afternoon. Sure it’s cold out but inside it’s nice and warm so smoothies can still be a thing. Tropical fruit smoothies (with some spinach added in for good measure) add to our fruit and veggie intake AND our liquid intake so it’s a win-win. Plus, who can resist a little toddler voice
saying “juice” while pointing at the blender? I sure can’t!
Bonding with Caleb over a smoothie makes my heart happy. And a happy heart is good for my health.
Makes about three servings
1/2 Cup Spinach
1 Cup Frozen Berries
1 Frozen Banana
1 Cup Pineapple
1.5 Cups Milk of Choice (We Use Almond Milk)
1. Add all ingredients to a blender
2. Blend, pour, and enjoy!
