Fueling the Father/Son Relationship

February 13, 2017
Father and son bonding time is so important but, as a mom, I have a fear of missing out and don't always give them the time together that they need. Click through to read why I'm changing that!

Sometimes I can be a little bit of a smotherer.  I’ve always had FOMO (fear of missing out) and that definitely can transfer over to my family.  I want to spend all day every day with my two favorite guys and be involved in everything going on with my hubby and son.

Recently I’ve really been thinking about the relationship my husband has with my son and how I can help foster a wonderful and healthy relationship.  I’m home with Caleb all day every day so he gets more than enough mama time.  What he craves is one-on-one time with his daddy.  Nate is already Caleb’s favorite person in the world and I’m realizing more and more that every so often I need to butt out of their relationship and let them be guys together.

The simplest moments can have such an impact on Caleb and getting to do awesome stuff just with daddy makes his heart so happy.

Cookies are some of Caleb’s favorite treats (and, to be honest, they’re pretty much Nate’s too) and sharing cookies with daddy adds to the fun and excitement!  While I was getting things done around the house it was so cute to hear them in the kitchen, sharing OREO cookies and dunking them in their milk!  (Almond milk for Caleb, regular for Nate) Of course, Nate had to teach Caleb all sorts of new techniques for dunking.  Ever heard of the Twist & Dunk, the Double Dunk, or the Plunge?  Yeah, neither had I!  It was so precious seeing my guys bonding over OREO cookies and milk.  It really is the simple things!

Of course, I had to sneak into the kitchen to snap some pictures of my guys together.  I guess my FOMO isn’t completely gone yet.  😉
