Boozy Watermelon Slush
A boozy watermelon slush is the perfect drink on a hot summer afternoon!
Here in the Pacific Northwest it is FINALLY getting hot and, let me tell you, I am HERE FOR IT! There’s something about the sunshine that makes me have ALL THE ENERGY and happiness and joy. And yes, I know about vitamin D. From September-June we PNWesterners don’t get enough of it. Any of us. Science told me so.
Ok, rabbit trail over. One of my favorite things in the summertime is to sip on yummy, fruity cold beverages. Give me a tall glass of peach ice tea, a pitcher of lemonade, or a delicious smoothie and I’m a happy woman. And on summer evenings, after the boys go down to bed or when I’m hanging out with friends, a little something extra added into my drink is always appreciated.
The other day I was enjoying the summer evening and munching on a slice of watermelon. It dawned on me that there was no reason for me to be eating the watermelon. I should be DRINKING it! And so…
The boozy watermelon slush was born!
Of course, the next day I had to make the virgin version of the drink so my boys could enjoy it with me. They were all about the watermelon ice juice and guzzled them down. They’ve asked for more nearly every day since then and I’ve been happy to oblige. And yes, before you ask, both boozy and non-boozy versions are totally worth it!
There’s just something that screams SUMMERTIME about this drink!
